Concussion Prevention - Heading
At all levels of US Soccer, there is an increased focus on health and safety of all players.  This is especially the case for concussion prevention.  As a result, Mass Youth Soccer adopted significant changes to laws of the game for heading in 2016.  A summary of the changes is below:
  • For all U10 and younger players, heading is no longer allowed in games or practice.
  • For all U12 players, heading is no longer allowed in games.
  • For all players between age 11 and 13, heading training is allowed for a maximum of 30 minutes per week with no more than 15-20 headers per player, per week.
