• We generally play no more than 8 v 8. If we get approximately 20 players, we tend to break into four teams and have two games going. This allows for more ball touches, although is certainly more of a workout.
  • We tend to split up the high school or college level kids that are very good players, between the various teams to make the teams as equal as possible.
  • Everyone should be prepared to take turns at goalie. The score does not matter and it is not fair to make the same people play in goal.
  • Be considerate of those playing goal. Those that are experienced soccer players, please do not take hard shots from up close.
  • Pick-up soccer is for fun, and started to help promote and grow soccer within our community. It has developed a bit as some of the adults now play all year round, and more and more young adults show up. Therefore, although it is still not competitive, the level of play has improved over time. Everyone is invited to play, however, we recommend some athletic ability or a minimal amount of soccer playing, and for players U14 and up we recommend that have played soccer and tend to be rated as 1 or 2 on the Sterling player rating system.
  • Wear soccer cleats, and shin pads. We do not prevent people from playing without them, but we have seen our number of injuries.
  • We ask everyone to bring both a white and dark jerseys. We do not generally have pinnies, so we split the teams up to white and dark shirts. White means......let's see....white ! Not gray, or light yellow. A dark shirt means dark blue, dark green, or black.

  • Bring water….there is no snack shack. At Muddy Pond there is no refreshment. Once we move to Griffin Road later in the year, there are juice vending machines.
  • We play for several hours so feel free to come late if you have another commitment.
  • If it has rained during the day prior to pick-up soccer time, or is only drizzling or sprinkling a little bit….we will play. If it is clearly raining we will not. If there is any doubt, we are probably playing and there are some people at the field.
  • We play until it gets too cold and/or we stop getting enough players each week.
  • We may move to lower Griffin Road as the fields are available to us. We send out an email ahead of time, but please check the fields. As it starts to turns dark early again, we may then even move to upper Griffin Road and play under the lights.
  • Check you emails each week. A reminder is sent out each week, so if we are moving, or not playing because of rain I will send out an email that day.
