About SYSA
The Sterling Youth Soccer Association (SYSA) is dedicated to providing a quality recreational fall soccer program for the youth of Sterling, MA ages K-HS. Our mission is primarily developmental, not competitive. SYSA seeks to help its players develop their soccer skills, their love for the game, their teamwork and sportsmanship, and their character.
Sterling Youth Soccer is managed according to divisions by age bracket based on age as of Aug 1st of each year. For example, if your child turned 8 before August 1st they would be in the U10 (Under 10) Division for that season. See the Divisions page to verify your child's age group by birthdate.
Please see specific information below:
• U6 (Kindergarten) play on intramural teams. Games/practices are on Tues & Thurs evenings adjacent to Houghton School parking lot.
• U8 play on intramural teams. Two games/practices per week on Mon, Weds, or Fri evenings on Muddy Pond Fields.
• Children in divisions U10 and up play on travel teams. Games are held on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Practices are on weeknights.
• Children playing at U10-U12 are part of Wachusett Area Youth Soccer Association (WAYSA). Away games are in neighboring towns.
• Children playing at U14 and High School levels are part of Midland Area Youth Soccer (MAYSL). Away games anywhere in Central MA.
Fall Soccer runs from late August through the end of October starting with Opening Day Ceremonies and concluding with the annual WAYSA U10/U12 Friendship Tournament.
For Spring Soccer, Sterling is affiliated with Mountain Soccer Club for ages U10-U18.
For Winter Indoor Soccer, contact your age group coordinator who may be able to put you in touch with a coach forming an indoor team.
